Summary:
The position is responsible for performing the process engineering design functions. This includes the design of gas turbine auxiliary systems, process equipment, process control and instrumentation design integration and infrequent start-up support. The designs must meet contract and schedule requirements for MHPSA's power projects in North America. Candidates need to possess effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. The position requires an individual who is a self-starter and can work with minimal supervision. As a lead position, technical guidance and direction of others is required Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare heat and material balances and process flow diagrams
  • Development of piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Development of process data sheets for both instrumentation and equipment.
  • Understanding of process instrumentation and control principles.
  • Able to perform and review hydraulic calculations and heat exchanger thermal calculations.
  • Control valve specification and selection
  • Pump selection and sizing
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Required Skills:
  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BA) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from four-year ABET accredited College or University.
  • Basic understanding of Project Engineering execution fundamentals
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problem, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer aided design, database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
Desired Qualifications:
  • A practical understanding of gas turbine single and combined cycle power plant design and construction methods.
  • Experience with Gas Turbine Auxiliaries System design
  • Experience commissioning Gas Turbines
  • Experience with HAZOP, SIL reviews, construction punch-out, and project startup activities.
  • Experience with Smartplant P&ID
