Senior Network Administrator

Position Summary
The Senior Network Administrator ensures the smooth operation of the organization's voice and data network in order to provide maximum performance and availability for the system users. The Senior Network Administrator reports to the Associate Director of Information Technology and Projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, installs, maintains and supports LAN, WAN and VoIP infrastructurre at NERC offices.
  • Provides high level technical support for voice and data network systems, creates and maintains network documentation, maintains hardware and software standards, and works projects as needed in order to upgrade to new and or improved communication equipment and procedures.
  • Is well versed with the advances engineering and administration of multi protocol routeres, multi layer switches, network security devices and network management systems.
  • Provides excellent problem management and customer services skills.
Qualifications - The successfull candidate will have:
  • At least 6 to 10 years of solid enterprise experience with a variety of routers, switches, and firewalls Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN, NAT and routing protocols (BGP, iBGP, EIGRP, OSPF and RIP)
  • Network load balancing concepts
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco ASA with FirePOWER Services Firewalls, Cisco Nexus 9k Series Switches, Cisco ASR and ISR Routers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco FireSIGHT Management Center
  • Knowledge of Juniper Firewalls and Extreme Networks Switches
  • Strong Knowledge of carrier technologies (MPLS, QoS, Metro E).
  • Strong knowledge of network security (LAN/WAN) including but not limited to firewalls, ACL and policy management, IDS/IDP devices.
  • Network performance tuning and monitoring (SolarWinds).
  • VoIP and IP telephony experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong knowledge of content filtering and anti-sapm technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere and Fiber based storage infrastructure.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry best practice on network architecture to inclue design, security and implementation strategies.

  • This position has been classified as exempt.
  • Position required to participate in 24x7 on call rotation.
