Summary

The application Support Specialist at Ocean State Job Lot provides business system analysis and support for multiple applications used by core operations departments throughout the company. The ideal candidate will have a unique blend of technical, business and people skills to play a key role as technical consultant and subject matter expert throughout the life cycle of their assigned applications. The application Support Specialist is involved in planning, implementation and production support. Coordinates end-user client relationships while responding to both critical and routing application support requests, as well as, interfacing with software vendors and consultants for development and support.

Responsibilities:

• Be part of the team that supports our ERP
• Execute and support application related projects and implementation
• Execute and manage unit testing for application implementations and upgrades
• Application maintenance
• Troubleshoot application support issues escalated
• Create documentation for End-user support team for client installations and for resolving common issues with standard resolutions
• Be a member of the team that ensures that all applications are supported all the time

Qualifications:

• A degree in Management Information Systems or equivalent
• Basic knowledge in following areas:
• - Windows XP/7 Desktop Operating System
• - Windows Server 2008 Operating System
• - Knowledge of Relational Databases especially Microsoft SQL Server
• - Client / Server application structure in a multi-user environment
• Experience working in a team environment, exercising independent thinking, problem solving and achieving goals and deadlines.
• High aptitude for interpreting technical documentation, as well as authoring or updating documents as needed.
• Prior technical support experience preferred.
